Tashan Daniel coach Josh Swaray writes about his hopes for Tashan. Josh is probably one of the most under-stated sprinting talents in British Athletics. The father-of-two has tinkered with international level competition for England teams in the past, and finaled in major domestic competitions such as the World Championship trials. Although still waiting for that final breakthrough which lies a tantalizing few hundredths of a second away from his lifetime best marks, he continues to impress year after year.
Tashan Daniel Olympic Hopeful
Josh writes ” Tashan Daniel is what is generally known in track in field as a hybrid. He is blessed by nature with extremely athletic qualities. These qualities to name a few include highly compliant and elastic tendons. He also has extremely high levels of explosive power which is necessary for his chosen event of the 200m. Tashan recognized his potential and decided to focus his efforts and immediate future to training full time. He gave up his full-time job as a photographer to follow his passion in becoming a world-class sprinter.
He met with his sprint coach in October of 2018 where they began to perfect his craft. This would include a 5-day training schedule 3 of which were high-intensity track workouts and 2 days of easy active recovery sessions. He would also visit a sports therapy clinic 2x a week to get massage therapy to keep his body at its optimal condition. His aim was to improve on his performances over a 4 year period until reaching the next Olympic games.
“In my humble opinion, Tashan Daniel was in the 90th percentile of talent range. With good training, nurturing and consistency the world was his oyster. His mental approach towards both competition and training was that of a future world champion. His attitude towards hard work was nothing less than tenacious”
